Sunset Park

Sunset Park has a strong residential community that includes the largest Federal Historic Housing District.  However, a struggling industrial area can be found just across the Gowanus Expressway from this residential community. This neighborhood has historically housed immigrants; currently, the Latino population represents the majority.  Immigrants from Asia, primarily China, have started to revitalize 8th Avenue
Visit Sunset Park, a hidden Brooklyn gem, for spectacular harbor and Manhattan city skyline views. From this view, you can also see St. Michael's and Bush Terminal, two neighborhood landmarks.
Check out the Groundswell Community Mural Project, Stop, Look, Listen in Sunset Park. The mural was complete by volunteer students from Hostos Community College.
See a performance at the Walt Whitman Theater
Sunset has a small town feeling, and many mom and pop stores still line the avenues. The area boasts one of the highest percentages of walk to work commuters in the City.
